Update: Archer Road construction underway
UF Health Shands Cancer Hospital is now 20 mph.
For the next several months, Archer Road will be under construction near UF Health Shands Hospital, UF Health Shands Cancer Hospital as well as visitor and employee parking garages. The final design will include better lighting, lower speed limits and pedestrian safety features that include a mid-block crosswalk. These features will create a safer environment that will benefit UF Health faculty, staff, patients and visitors.
Periodic lane closures will be set up between Southwest 16th Avenue and Southwest 13th Street Sunday-Thursday from 8:30 p.m.-6 a.m.
The scope of work includes making Archer Road from the intersection of Southwest 16th Avenue to Southwest 13th Street more like a campus roadway — we will be milling and resurfacing the entire corridor, tapering/removing medians, increasing turn lane storage, improving ADA access, adding in road bike lanes, replacing two span wire signalized intersections with mast arms, adding LED lighting and posting the speed limit at 20 mph.
