UF Health Emergency Center at Kanapaha open to patients
The UF Health Emergency Center at Kanapaha opened to patients on Oct. 1. The new 911-receiving, freestanding E.R. on Southwest Archer Road provides critical care services for residents in southwest Gainesville.
The state-of-the-art 10,881-square-foot E.R. is located about 2.5 miles west of I-75 and features 14 exam spaces and two rooms dedicated to rapid triaging and patient examinations.
The UF Health Emergency Center at Kanapaha is open 24/7 and will be staffed by physicians trained and board-certified in emergency medicine. The E.R. is also fully equipped to provide the same level of emergency care as a hospital-based E.R. If patients need further care or admission to the hospital, such as in the case of trauma or stroke, the transition of care to the UF Health Shands E.R. on the main hospital campus will be seamless.
Like the UF Health Shands Emergency Center at Springhill, Kanapaha providers are linked closely to the hospital-based critical care teams and can provide direct and immediate access to comprehensive services at UF Health Shands Hospital.
